Graphics Card Suggestions

Hello, I am looking at upgrading my graphics card, but I am fairly new to building PC's so I am not 100% sure of what is going to be my best option. Currently I have a Zotac Geforce GTX 650 Ti Amp! edition and I was looking the EVGA GeForce GTX 670 4Gb ( or a variation of a GTX 680 card. I also saw that on the information for the 670 that it requires a Minimum recommended power supply with +12 Volt current rating of 30 Amps. I am not sure if the power supply I have will do the trick (

I am open to other suggestions as well and my budget is around $500 also.

Also I was currious if I would be better of waiting until the 700 series is released even through I have not found much information on them.

If it matters my system is as follows:

AMD FX 8350

ASUS M5A97 R.0

8GB G.Skill Ripjaws X series 1600Mhz

Zotac Geforce GTX 650 Ti 2Gb Amp! edition

500Gb Western Digital hard drive

120Gb Samsung 840 series

Ultra LSP650 Power Supply

Cooler Master Storm Enforcer Case

The PSU should be fine.

Before i make a graphics reccommendation though are there any particular games that you want to play/re having trouble playing at the moment.?

The 660 ti is probably the best for the money

Currently I have been playing Battlefield 3 and i have been on and off with World of Warcraft and Starcraft. I am probably going to get Crisis 3 soon as well. My biggest concern with my current card is in Battlefield 3. I can play on ultra settings and the fps is around 40, but the dips down into the 20's ans it annoys me so I backed down the settings. Also I use software like Autodesk AutoCad and Inventor.

wait for the 700 series, i heard they're coming out in Q4 2013.

What about AMD cards? I recently bought an HD 7970 GHz edition, couldn't be happier! From all the suggestions and comparisons I've seen and read, people say it's a faster card than any GTX 670 or 680.

Hmm. I was thinking about an AMD card, but if I do it will definatly be one of the 8000 series cards when they come out.

The 8000 series won't be coming out until Q4 2013, so unless you want to play the waiting game, your best bet would probably be the 7970.

no point going to wait till half way throught this year cards will be more than your build now.

but other than thatif you are going to get a 680 get a 7970 instead. or if you want to be cheaper get 2 660 (non-ti) they are cheaper than 1 680 and more powerfull.

Get the AMD Geforce 680 with the newest cooling option whose name I can't recall. Anyway, just make sure you don't go with the stock EVGA one that has the reference cooler, as it overheats rapidly under overclocks.

AMD Geforce 680? *facepalm* Its Nividia dumb shit
