If you can, try to go 32 inches+ for 4k. I switched from 3 22 inch 1080p monitors to one 32 inch 4k monitor. I wouldn't have it any other way. It does cost more, but even with better than perfect vision, I find less than 32 inches at 4k to be too small.
Do you ever open four windows split between corners of your 32in? is it doable?
All the time. Occasionally I'll open more if I want to manually resize them, but I'm lazy and just use hotkeys to throw different windows in the corners, then switch to another desktop if I really need to. It's been quite effective for me as I can still read everything without having any scaling
