GPUs won't kick on

About a week ago I started getting very low frame rates in all of my games, I tried many different ways to fix it including reinstalling drivers, moving the cards to different pcie slots, getting a new sli bridge, reinstalling windows. Still my games are getting less than 30fps even on low settings, I checked ti see what they were doing with msi afterburner and the gpus won't go past 25% usage. My specs: CPU, AMD 8350. GPU: 2 way 760's at 1085 mhz and 1300 mhz memory clock, also put the cards to 105% power limit. RAM: 8 gigs of kingston hyper x fury. Any help is appreciated.

have you checked to see the performance when sli is disabled? it maybe since alot of games dont support sli or crossfire so you get less performance then one card

I did before I did the fresh install of windows

guis pls its summer sale.

Have you tried running a single card and comparing its performance in games to what it is benchmarked at?
I have little knowledge of SLI/dual cards but it sounds to me like one or maybe both of the gpus has an issue.
If the cards run at their expected frame rates when used alone (meaning that you must have only one gpu in your system and you must test both gpus) then the problem lies with the SLI.
If one of the cards is preforming worse than the other or if both cards are running worse than the benchmarks then you can blame either the card itself or your system(including drivers).
It also sounds as through your cards are running at different clocks, I recommend resetting them to default clock and see if it helps.
If your cards were purchased at different times (say you upgraded from single card to dual) then your card bios might be different which might be causing a problem.
I could ramble on and on but for now why don't you check to see if the cards preform well alone.

how old/ what type of power supply do you have, some times they will stop putting out the right amount off power before the go completely bad.

thus 2 gpus wont work right rather than a straight up no post.

850 watt evga 80 plus bronze, it's not even a year old yet (sorry for the late response)

Both cards are running perfectly fine, I put both of them into my buddies computer and they are running gta 5 at pretty good settings 2560x1080 by themselves and in sli

vary strange id recommend running your rig with your buddys PSU ans see if that helps if not the id start looking at the MB.. i doubt its the OS but you can also try installing windows on a spare drive to see if that makes the gpus kick in.

Edit: Drive speed wont matter you can use a laptop drive if you cant find a 3.5"

I already did the fresh install of windows, I'll get back to you when I put in the psu

have you tried setting your monitor's refresh rate to 60hz?

Adjust the Refresh Rate

Adjusting the refresh rate is only recommended for cathode-ray tube (CRT) monitors, and is unnecessary for laptop LCD screens or flat-panel LCD monitors.
Close all open programs.
Click Start, and then click Control Panel.
In the Control Panel window, click Adjust screen resolution under Appearance and Personalization.
Click Advanced Settings, and then click the Monitor tab.
Click the Screen refresh rate drop-down menu under Monitor settings.
Select the refresh rate you want from the available options, and then click Apply.
When you are informed that Windows will now adjust the refresh rate, click OK.
If a Refresh Rate warning appears stating that you have specified a custom refresh rate, click Yes.

If the new settings are compatible, the screen will reappear with the new settings.
Click Yes if you want to keep the new settings.
If new settings do not work, Windows® will attempt to revert back to the original settings automatically. If the video has become corrupted or an Out of Scan Range error occurs that cannot be automatically corrected, restart the computer. Press during startup, highlight Safe Mode from the Startup Menu, and press to start the computer in Safe Mode. In Safe Mode, change the screen resolution back to the original settings and restart normally.

Close all windows and restart the computer when prompted.

The refresh rate is 60, the games framerate is below what it should be

Maybe the mother board is throttling the PCIe bus.

You should get HWinfo (think thats the name) which lets you log ALL sensors on the computer, then analysis them afterwards, bet there is something noticeably wrong in the data.

http://www.hwinfo.com/

just threw in a different power supply, (only a 600 watt so couldn't run both cards) and the card is still not even going past 50% usage, so is the motherboard the culprit at this point?

i would say yes

edit: you have checked the

GPU
PSU
operating system

the only thing left is MB & RAM, you can test your ram sicks but i would assume its the mother bored

i seriously doubt its the CPU if the pc posts it should be fine, do you do any sort of overclocking or even undervolting to keep the same clock at a lesser voltage?

Never overclocked before and the RAM is good, threw it into my buddies system. I'll look into replacing the mobo then and let you know what happens

Finally got a new mobo into my rig and everything is working how it should again i'm pretty sure, just ran far cry, gta, and battlefield and getting the performance I should be finally, gonna install some more games and test those as well, I appreciate all the help

That is what this forum is for mate!
Glad to hear its working now.
