What's up you guys I have a question today and I need your help to decide. Here below are three choices.
Choice 1. Keep Processor: Amd A6 3670k Just OC
Upgrade Gpu: From 6850 to 7950
Choice 2: Upgrade processor: From A6 3670k to FX-6300
Upgrade: MotherBoard Asrock a75 Extreme6 to Asrock 970 Extreme 3 or 4
Upgrade Gpu: From 6850 to 7870
I really just want to eliminate any bottleneck in this system. I believe the 7950 is way too fast for a a6 3670k even after overclocking it to 3.3 Ghz.
I would take option 2 and try to spare some extra cast for an R9 280X or go with 270X (or 270 and OC it) if you can't spare the extra cash. I would choose option one, but I'm not to sure what is the highest GPU the proc can handle before bottlenecking. I would stick a 7950 with an i3 Ivy bridge or A8 APU, but not to sure with A6.
I'd choose option two. Using an old CPU with a high end GPU is just asking for bottlenecks. Sure, in some games that don't use the CPU much, option 1 will be a bit faster. But in games that use the CPU more, option 2 will perform much better. Basically, option 2 is more consistent.
I know some people that have been gaming on a FX-6300 and have no problems. All they need is a powerful GPU and they are rockin' every game they come across.
