GPU Upgrade on old build

Basically my brother got the PC I used to own before I got my new one, and he wants a GPU upgrade for 70 (+-10)

Specs (Don't laugh)

Intel Core 2 Duo E5700

Asus P5GC-MX/1333

Kingston 3 GB DDR2

ATI 5450

So I was thinking that he should get a 6670. Thoughts?

Would a 7750 be worth it.

This will be used for 720p/1080p medium-high if possible.

One more question. If he gets a more high end card would there be a bottleneck?

Also please use www.newegg.ca for the links.

Thanks :D

find a power color 7770 on sale. got one for like 80$

and yea if he gets a high end card there will be bottlenecking tbh it will probably bottleneck a 7770

SO a 6670 will do?

get a 7750 I would say or the 6770 that tacopat posted

Is it a pre-built system? If it is, the PSU most likely will not be able to handle even the small increase in power draw form a 6770.

470W PSU

i was using an old AMD Athlon 64 x2 4800+ (the very old socket 939 version with DDR memory) with a AMD HD 4830 until earlier this month  (STUPID CATS BROKE THE GPU AND THE MOBO).  I can tell you that the CPU was the main bottleneck, but with the better GPU in i could could play newer games (like Darksiders 2 with out to much problems) a lot better than the AMD 4650 I had in before.

short term i would say go with the AMD 6670, save some money, get a fairly balanced computer

Long term i would say go witha  7770 or a 7790, they are great powerful GPUs that could be used in a future CPU/MOBO upgrade.  they come with 1 free game of your choice; NSFW (Never Settle Forever Woot*).  Also I will say that the Core 2 Duo is a lot better of a processor than the old A64x2 i was using and will probably work better with the stronger GPU.
