GPU upgrade. EVGA 670 with Asus M5A97

I would like to upgrade my Asus GeForce GT 640 2GB DDR3 GPU to the EVGA GTX 670 2GB DDR5 PGU, but I'm not sure if my motherboard is compatible with the 670, I've googled but not found anything useful.

Any help?

Yes it will run as long as your powersupply is good enough but you wont be getting pcie 3 16x speeds with that chipset you will be getting pcie 2 and thats equivelint to pcie 3 8x

so yes it will run just make shure you have a good powersupply

I see you have a AMD Athlon II X3, Tri-Core 3.2Ghz CPU overclocked to 3.5Ghz. WAFFLETIME or anyone do you think that will handle the 670?

Oh, I'm upgrading my CPU to the AMD FX 8350, as adviced by Logan. ;)

nice, you may have to flash the bios for the fx i have the r2.0 version and am saving up for a gtx670, only have th fx-6300 but love it so far. Next year I'll up grade to a 8 core steamroller. You will have quite a beast when you are done.

WOO!!! BEAST!!!!!!!!!!!!! >.< Thanks for the help man :P

i use the same mobo and i have the fx 8350 and a gtx 680, it runs like a champ you shouldent have any issues, just do the bios update before switching to the fx chip
