GPU questions (Compatibility? with Premiere. Radeon vs nVidia)

So I'm really confused...

This is my first build, so I have had a lot questions but this keeps confusing me.

I am looking for a >$200 video card that I can run 2 screens at 1920x1080

I plan of using it mainly for editing and working in:

Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, Premiere, and Aftereffects... Also I would like something that can play newer games. (Im learning

This is where I get lost. I understand that some Nvida cards have CUDA and it allows Premier and Aftereffects to use the GPU to process some of the work load, making some edits/effects faster and higher quality. This advantage should mean that a nvidia card would be the best choice.

So I looking into getting a EVGA SSC 02G-P4-3653-KR GeForce GTX 650 Ti 2GB 128-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready Video Card

(I couldn't find a better nvidia card of the price... if you have a better suggestion let me know)

However when I looked on adobe's website it only has a few cards that are compatible with the GPU accelerated effects and most of them are old or over my budget.

So do does it matter if I go with Nvidia or Radeon?

If I were to go with a card not on the compatibility list will it work with Premiere and Aftereffects? (just not the GPU accelerated effects)

and if thats the case do I still go nvidia even though it has no advantage with GPU accelerated effects?

Im just learning Premiere and Aftereffects... I don’t need (cant afford) the fastest rig, but I want something if possible to learn both programs.

Any suggestions, comments, or explanations are welcome.

Thanks

Nick

try the 660 (you don't even need the ti. CUDA makes a big diff.....

any sugestions on brand?  most of the GTX 660 are $300... I want to keep it under $200 if possible or as close to $200.

what do you think of a card like this?

ZOTAC ZT-60901-10M GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

It is a really good price right now but Im not sure I''ve never heard of Zotac (but again Im new to all this)

Where are you buying from ?

newegg...

or

I could do the EVGA 02G-P4-2660-KR GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

Im just dont know brands and what will be a good investment.

Both are awesome brands and since they are reference, it doesn't really matter, besides customer support and warranty.

Gtx 660's are around 200$ they shouldnt be 300

zotac are fine, little under known but ive used the before they make decent enough products. for editing push for CUDA as much as possible. that 660 will do you very nice and will be a massive upgrade on a 650, only if you can afford it.

Thank you everyone for all the help... I think I've got it now... Just another question though..

The video cards say PCI Express 3.0 x16 and most of the motherboards I have looked at say PCI Express 2.0 x16.  Is this going to be a problem?

and final thoughts on these three cards:

PNY VCGGTX660XPB GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

EVGA 02G-P4-2660-KR GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

ASUS GTX660-DC2O-2GD5 GeForce GTX 660 2GB 192-bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 x16 HDCP Ready SLI Support Video Card

No, it shouldn't.

Bouth the PNY and the EVGA cards are refrence this basicly means they are exactly the same, they share the pcb design and cooler design. The thing you need to consider if you are gonna go with either of them is really warranty and customer support.
The ASUS card is a non refrence design with a non refrence cooler. This means that they most ofthen use higher grade components and they usually run several degrees cooler than the refrence cards. The refrence cards blow the air directly out from the case, while non reference cards usually just spred it out in you case, witch will result in slightly higer temperatures inside you're case. However if we are talking strightly preformance wise they will all preform about the same.
I would personaly go with the EVGA card just because of their exellent warranty and support, however i have also owned one of the ASUS cards and they are really nice, but you will not have the huge need for it to run cooler since you using the card for video editing not gaiming.
Hope this helps c:
