GPU Q abt :: i2500k / Gigabyte GA-Z68 UD4-B3 / 8 GB DDR3-1333

i currently have a 5870

crossfire that or get a new GPU ?

goal is to play bf3 maxxed 1080p with 60fps

Thanks

I think you are better off with selling it while its still worth a bit of money and buying something like a 7850/7950 or a second hand 580.

That would be better than having to worry about any potnetial corssfire problems, plus in the future you will have the option to CF/SLI the more powerful card, and for now a single card solution is always best ;)

Remember that when you CF or SLI GPU's regardless if you have no compatibility issues, because of the way it works, sometimes even if you have say 60fps, it feels more like 45 fps and not as smooth as a single card at 60 fps.

at this moment i am still running 775 system

q9550 @ 3.8

Asus p5q pro

5870 vapor-x

8GB ocz 1066mhz ddr2 (lol)

Revodrive 80gb

this question was for the future build i want to upgrade my 775 rig to

specs stated in the topic title

the motherboard an ram is already heading my way

i hope i can sell my old stuffs for a little bit (ram/mobo/cpu) and the 5870 when everything has arrived

and be able to afford a new gpu by then

thanks so far Crackatoah

I think its best to sell your GPU now as its still worth something, and then put that towards how ever much you can spend on a new GPU, if you arent going to have enough then it may not be worth it.

But with the money you get from your GPU, and the money you would have spent on another 5870 anyway, the least you could get is a second hand 580, a 7950/7970 would be good though.

for the motherboard to arrive can take a long time so if i sell the gpu now i wont have a useable pc for maybe 2-3weeks :P

ill take it intoo consideration

instead of a 2500k i5 i might be able to get a cheap 2nd handed 2700k

grrr

Or even a cheap second hand 2500k ;)

I have a 2700K and tbh there is no need for it (unless you actually use programs that utalize it)

I think buying CPU's second hand is completely fine, as they have a very low failure rate and last for years, so you may aswell save some money.

so between a i5 2500k vs i7 2700k isnt so big difference ?

Depends, if you are just using your PC for playing games and casual stuff, then there is literally no difference in performance atall.

The only time an i7 is better is if you do lots of video rendering/ encoding and use programs like photoshop or other programs that use hyperthreading.

If your not and are just using your PC casually and playing games there is no difference atall from a 2500k to a 2600/2700k (the 2700k might clock a bit higher, but again you wouldnt see any difference in games and the difference in oveclock will be so small anyway)

if i can get the 2700k i7 for the same price i can get a i5 2500k i am going to do it

since i render gameplay in vegas alot   will keep the tread posted on updates

thx

Yeh it may save you a bit of time and be of use, a 2600K second hand would be just as good too, you can get some good deals on them atm with some people aimlessly moving to IVYbridge even there really is no point if you already have a 2500/2600k
