GPU Passthrough on old hardware

Greetings!

I want to do a GPU passthrough on my pc. Its pretty old by today’s standarts and from my research, motherboard doesn’t have IOMMU module. Is it possible to get the OS to do the work and if yes, would the performance hit be too big. Here are the specs:

openSUSE Leap 42.3 (kernel 4.4)
MB: Asrock M3A770DE (chipset: AMD 770 + SB710)
CPU: Phenom II 965 BE @ 3.8GHz
RAM: 4x 1GB DDR1333
GPU: primary: Sapphire Radeon HD 7850 OC 2GB
secondary (the one to get passthrough): ASUS Radeon HD 3850 512MB

Does your BIOS/UEFI have AMD-Vi or IOMMU in it? If not, you will need hardware that supports IOMMU to do the virtualization.

From wiki

In addition to the CPU support, both motherboard chipset and system firmware (BIOS or UEFI) need to fully support the IOMMU I/O virtualization functionality in order for it to be actually usable.
