I want to know which GPU will be the best "back for the buck"
The cards are:
GTX 760 (£220)
GTX 670 (£260)
HD 7950 (£206)
HD 7970 (£260)
Another option if i can:
GTX 770 (£340)
I want my new build to last for atleast 3 years before i have to buy a new GPU. The games i will play are BF4, Watchdogs, GTA 5 and any new next-gen console games that will catch my eye. My CPU is a i7 4770k and dont say get an i5 because i dont only want this for gaming, i want to livestream and edit videos.
I can get any of the cards but i have benchmarks that the HD 7950 is faster than the GTX 670 and that the GTX 760 is only a few FPS on average slower than a GTX 670 so then i presure the HD 7970 is the fastest? I just want your guys thoughts and opinions to help me out.
7970 is the fastest for gaming. The 7950 is the best value, it's not much slower than the 7970, but it still comes with the same games bundle.
The ATI cards to make a contribution to editing, but it depends on the software that you use. I've been told that Adobe has better support for OpenGL these days.
Personally, I would go with the 7950, with a good cooler, and overclock it.
If you need Cuda, I would go with the 760. It's cheaper than the 670, but has the same amount of everything. They're basically the same card.
Battlefield is a game that works best with Nvidia. I'm unsure of the other games you listed.
A HD 7950 with a good cooler for overclocking would cost quite a bit more whilst the GTX 760 EVGA SUPERCLOCKED with the 2 fans and can be overclocked very well is only £220 and if i overclock the 760 i could get better performance than a gtx 670.
Edit: I just looked at some benchmarks for the HD 7950 against the GTX 670 and it beats it in 9 out of 10 games which i wasnt expecting.
Yeah, the 7950 is an underrated card. It started to beat the 680 (and it can beat the 770) in some games, after the drivers were updated. It really is a great card.
I think the 7970 and 770 are the strongest candidates for high performance, obviously. But, the 7950 just gives a great amount of everything, and it can be found for a good price. The MSI Twin Frozr should only around £250. That's quite a saving.
It really depends if that money can be better spend on an SSD, or something? Otherwise, 7970 or 770.
I do have to put a bit of a disclaimer in. I am very unsure of its editing capability. I know that support for ATI cards is good in Adobe software. You might want to check that it will be good for whatever you decide to use.
Gaming at 1080, any of these cards will satisfy.
The 7950 and '70 come with 3 free AAA games. That certainly wets my gaming taste buds.
