So, I’ve been working on self hosting a MCserver and have gotten a Vanilla and PaperMC server up and running, but for some reason after starting the server and logging in to the game my display goes out. The desktop enviroment seems to still be there as I can still communicate if I’m in Discord; but all of my displays go black. Is this a common issue or is it hard/software related?
this maybe hardware or software, would need more info to be able to tell. like what hardware your server is running on (does it meet the minecraft server requirements plus what ever else is running on it)? what steps did you go through to set up your server? is the host and client on the same machines? what range is the worlds draw calls and does your client PCs gpu have the memory for that? what other programs running on the client pc like OSB or discord screen share?
If you are not sure about any of these questions or how they can effect you now is a great time to learn.
Try with only one display enabled or press F11 to exit the full screen mode.
X11 or Wayland? Which java version does it use?
The problem with black screen when starting Minecraft server and game may be due to resource overload, driver conflicts or power management settings. To solve this problem, try updating your video card drivers or reverting to a stable version, check resource utilization using monitoring tools, and lower your Minecraft graphics settings by reducing the render distance and memory allocation for the game. It may also help to run the server on a separate machine or hosting to reduce the load on the system. If the problem persists, check your system logs for video card-related errors and try changing your monitor settings, such as using only one screen or a different connection type.
