[GPU BATTLE] NVIDIA GTX 760 SC/w ACX vs AMD XFX Dbl.D 7950 Vapor-X

Lets Settle This Once and for All

I can't decide which is better. I have looked at so many benchmarks and so far it keeps going back and forth, but in most test the GTX 760 is almost the same or better than 7950 gaming wise.

GTX 760 SC/w ACX = $259

XFX Dbl.D 7950 Vapor-X= $299

For me I going to be Gaming most of the time but I am also into Video-Editing (Adobe Stuff)

Should I buy this or wait for the next AMD GPU (8000 Series, Although I heard AMD is not releasing anything for sometime)

I am so confused about this.... its just crazy. So what are your thoughts? Which is the better buy?

The 7950 should suffice for all of your needs. For gaming, it can occasionally beat a 770. It has more vram, a 384-bit bus, and oc's like crazy. I dont edit at all, so i cant advise you there. Just research if adobe can take advantage of opencl.

The GTX760 come between the 660ti and 670 in gaming benchmarks.

The 7950 come just above the 670 in gaming benchmarks.

We're talking pretty small margines though... Ratio wise it may not be worth $40.

One other thing to consider- What specifically do you use to render? if you use adobe CC you're going to want to get amd for the openCL. if you use something else then CUDA (nvidia) is the way to go.

I agree with NJM. The 760 almost never beats the 7950 in gaming benchmarks. The 7950 with a decent cooler will be more money to part with. It's really up to you if you want to spend or save.

From my understanding the out of the box difference is neglagble but the oc performace is solidly in favor of the 7950 as can be seen in the review posted by berserker.

That's correct. A lot of benchmarking sites actually leave the cards at their stock value. I forgot to mention you need to overclock the cards to get the potential.
