GPS Hidden in the frame of my bike, to track it down if it get's stolen?

So recently I bought a Felt Verza Speed 50 bicycle, and I really love it. However, it was a bit price for my standards, and i'm constantly in fear of it getting stolen. An idea that has popped into my head is installing a GPS tracker inside the frame of my bike, so if it get's stolen, I can find the exact location of it, and wait out the thief, or possibly reclaim what was mine...

But how practical is this?

Will GPS signals be able to be transmitted through an aluminum frame?
Would I need to pay a monthly fee for this to work, from, for example, an ISP, to supply a data connection to the device?
Will this be super expensive to do?

I really hope people can answer this question! Thank you!

Probably not. GPS signals are more on the weak side of things, and what would be essentialy an aluminum cover wont help.
I'd advice putting it somewhere else, like in the handlebar or somewhere hidden on the seat, if you want to hide it.

Depends on what service you use, but for a pure gps "tracker" device there aren't usually any fees. It should come prepared to use whatever satelites or antennas it can. On the other side, if you want to use that plus a service, like an app or online web, then it's really a matter of what they make you pay.

Again, depends on what you buy..

For example(*), you can take a look at Spybike which Hides gps as a part of the bike, or use an actual GPS device. You can find those from ~$130 (and up) to cheap ones at ~$20.
I'm guessing with some review reading you could decide which one to buy. Or someone around here that has used one can recommend something accurately :)

(*) Disclaimer: I haven't actually used any of these devices, so I'm just enumerating what i've found in a quick search.

What I'd keep in mind with the placement of this device is that you'll only really be tracking the part it's attached to.

Stick it on the seat, you're tracking your seat.
Stick it in a wheel somehow, you're tracking the wheel.
Stick it in the frame, you're tracking the frame.

If your bike were to get nicked and you needed to use this then I wouldn't expect to find all your parts together as the big pre-theft happy bike family they once were.
