GPO Drive Maps not working well

Hi!

We’re using GPO to map a couple of network drives (ie. User Configuration > Preferences > Windows Settings > Drive Maps). One GPO per drive.

The GPO is applied to a group, one group for each drive.

Problem is that it’s sometimes not working and the drives don’t show.
Or in other words when people log on there’s a random chance they don’t get the network drives.

A tech savvy user suggested it may have to do with the network adapter in use, eg. if the drives are mounted when a laptop is cabled and the same laptop is later logging on using wifi the drives aren’t there. But I have not been able to replicate this.

I’m considering going back to the good old ways of a logon script as that was a rock solid solution, though less elegant, it never failed.

Is there anything that can be done to make GPOs work better?

I’ve tried running gpresult and the policies with the drives show up as is there is no problem - but still no drives.

Thanks!

“Solved” the problem.

Went back to the good old method with a logon script and “net use x:” to mount drives. Works like a charm!
