My brother got a USB headset, mic would work but speakers wouldn't. He had to go in to the audio section of the control panel and set them to default to make them work he says. Now they are all that works the normal cable that goes in to the green audio jack and the front headphone jack wont work anymore, with or without the headset usb plugged in. His motherboard has like via tech, or something with via in the name, audio on it I dunno if he went and messed around in there or not but nothing works. Any ideas what to do, his constant calling and asking for help is interfering with my game time.
Because he changed the default. With it unplugged go and select the other option as default again.

In the window's icon tray right click the speaker icon and click "Play back devices" Make sure your USB device is select as default.
