So I came across something creepy... Apparently google maps has a record of everywhere that I have been for the last month.

So now google is spying on me...

Arrggg those damm basterds>>>>
Well, if you're smart, you don't have GApps on your smartphone, there are nothing but benefits (faster operation, longer battery life, better open source apps). That's the benefit of Android being just another kind of linux distro, you can do what you want with it.
Google is exaggerating with the spyware crap. Did you know that Twitch now doesn't work on Linux anymore, even on machines that have the flash plugin, which is required. The reason is that when you visit a Twitch page, Google requests access to your LAN, which is then blocked by the security systems on a normal Linux system. You just get a security alert when you go to any Twitch page. Windows and other software console users of course don't even get to see this threat.
You know the 'Murican credo right?: "Money talks so that bullshit can walk around with complete impunity".
yeah its just horrible.
A true Linux phone would realy be the thing. I´m playing arround a bit with Linux in vm, on my pc, and i realy start to think, that someday, i will gonne use it as my main OS. since the kernel of Linux mannage the processes so much better for an AMD FX then Windows, its not even funny.
Google just monitors all your data and sell it for big money...
I´m happy that i´m not using a smartphone often myself.
lol, Zoltan. Ya , linux on my old amd 6100 with a 7870 is so freaking fast. Its actually faster than my 8350 on windows.
Well, yeah. Duh. Google tracks your phone when gps is turned on. Where do you think it gets traffic data (which is insanely helpful on road trips, btw)?
Is it just me or was this obvious to begin with?
If you don't want them to do so, turn off g-maps, g-now, etc and use 3rd party stuff, if you really want to trust a different 3rd party with that data.
Personally I think Google has been overall pretty responsible with the data they mine, so I don't mind.
