Good Youtube channels for programming discussion?

Are there any channels out there that are like the Computerphile, but more related to programming and discussions around it? I'm not looking for tutorials, but discussion, news, and just interesting content surrounding it. I feel like its an area of Youtube where no one really stands out and the production quality is mediocre at best, even with the tutorial channels.

(BTW, programming would make for an awesome show on Level 1)

Kind of tough, most of the discussions are from conventions like

PyCon
2015

2016

BlackHat

Adrian Crenshaw

and there are many other conventions who stream online

it really depends on what you want to learn if you want to learn the basics of C im doing a new series on my channel starting on Monday (http://youtube.com/DarrenRainey) if you want to learn about various things like reverse enginering and hardware hacking the following channels are good :

Blackhat
Defcon
Hak5
Samy Kamkar

I thought about doing this kind of content. Not how to program per se because I'm not going to teach you that. There are some great paid resources out there for that, too, that are pretty cheap.

I am more interested in showing you how to think about stuff, and how to use tools/scripts/etc to up your game a bunch. Learning that you don't have to walk across broken glass every day to develop and debug software will really be a life changing experience for a lot of people.

Most people are "too busy" to stop and improve their workflow. It is a tragedy. The only person I see doing really, really well with this is Paul Irish. I suspect because Google probably gives him bathtubs of cash.

This is EXACTLY the type of content I was looking for. I don't expect you guys to be teaching us how to code, but it would be cool to see what you guys have for a workflow or videos on how to improve ours.

In the 3 years I attended college for computer programming we were never really taught automation scripting and how to use our IDE's to their full potential. Visual Studio, Eclipse, and even the text editors all contain features that can improve our code/lives but we don't know what they are. Specifically debugging.

There is definitely a hole in software development / Linux content with good production quality, I really hope that is something I see in my Youtube sub box from you guys one day.

Definitely. I personally use Sublime Text3 and there are many tools like Linters available to help any one new to a specific language or crossing over from another one. There's literally a Liniter for every language out there.

YES !

Although i prefer text as a medium to learn about programming, there are some programming youtube channels that i can recommend

Defcon is a conference regarding security related hacking (not only computers!). It has some videos regarding software hacking technique.

Another one i recommend is unfortunately dead, but the videos are still interesting is the Curl's author channel, Daniel Stenberg. Curl is a command line tool to transfer data over HTTP and many other protocols, similar to wget.

That would be great!

this is not programming per se but this stuff is a useful skill to avoid bad mistakes

This channel showed up in my 'recommend' on youtube,
Altough it's a bit javascript centric for my taste, it is still good to learn some useful programming subjects.
Also it has some cool coding challenges, like the snake game or space invaders!

Snake game,

Space invaders,

Have fun!

I've seen one of these videos before, pretty well done. Maybe needs to cut out some of the banter though.

Not always super code heavy, though often some great discussions.

Would love to discover a channel on basics in coding for noobs like myself.

Actually thenewboston is the one of that kind of channels.

@peterbocan I'm gonna have to look into this. Thank you.

This content would be a miracle, and I would like and smash the bell all over YouTube for it.
