I don't need some overpriced DESTROYER GAME READY GEAR GET YOUR ULTIMATE GAME ON chair I don't need anything flashy
[REDACTED]I just need the AMD of chairs
I'm a student and I play games. I'm in front of my computer for a lot of each day. The most important things for me are good value, good back support, & standard adjustments - seat height and arm rest height.
Preferred price range tops out at about $200, but of course, based off of what I hear, I might be able to adjust that.
I currently have this chair. It was (and is) a good price, sturdy, adjustable, and comfortable. I've had it for almost a year now and the chair is the same as the day we brought it home; including all of the padding. For reference I use this chair every single day for at least 3-4 hours (more on the weekends) and I'm an adult lady with a dangerous cookie habit. @imaximus can vouch for the chair and all it's well priced majesty.
If you're under 5'10 maybe check out the Staples Hyken mesh chair. I've been using mine for two years now and it's quite good for the ~100 that you can sometimes pick it up for.
You should probably look used. I don't know of any 200 dollar chairs I found to be good. There are probably a few hidden among the junk but idk them. I was tempted to give the autonomous chair that is currently being kickstarted for 250 a try since their sit stand desk was a successful project and it looks good... But I have better things to spend my disposable income on at the moment.
But idk. just go try a bunch of things out. Height adjustment, seat depth adjustment, tilt with a number of locking positions and tilt tension (preferably synchro tilt), an adjustable lumbar support pad and height and depth adjustable arms. Those are more or less the essentials I would want in any office chair I would consider buying.
be careful with cushy padded chairs. a lot of them after long hours of use compress down so that you can feel screws and other junk internally. so if you want a chair like that look for the opinion of people who have used them for a long time and for long sessions.
Well I'm 5' 4" so it's tall for me but I'd imagine it would hit you mid-back =/
Given your height I'd agree with the others here and say to try out craigslist, used furniture stores, 5mile, Facebook groups, and any other means you can think of.
a recliner might be a more comfortable option if your desk isn't very high and you don't need to move around alot. if you chose one with wide arms you can set the keyboard and mouse on them and actually be able to lean back
