i have a good pc for gaming and editing at my dads, but i want to build another pc for use at my mums. i think i want to do it like this:
bitfenix protidgy case (also so i can take it around to lan partys and stuff), some mini itx mobo (i dont really care), an msi 560ti hawk, a 2500k, 4-8gb of 1333mhz RAM (probably 4 though), stock intel cooler, a seagate 500gb 7200rpm drive of some description, corsair cx 500wpsu.
definately good enough, my previous build was an i5 2500k (oced to 4.5 but stock is good enough) with a MSI twin forzr II so slightly slower graphics card, with say 8GB of 1600 ram runs most game near max perfectly fine, as for the ram there no point in getting the cheaper 1333mhz and 4gb of it, as it is so cheap at the moment spending that little extra for 8gb and 1600mhz speed is pennies (corsair vengence or patriot good affordable RAM) hope this helps
Ditch the i5 and go with a FX 6300, then get a nice little cooler for it and OC it a bit. AMD is a little cheaper and as far as gaming goes, they have a better value. This will also allow you to go with a little more memory, which is really going to help when it comes to editing.
1333MHz ram, 560ti?! If you even get a current gen card in the same price group as the 560ti it'll take less power, probably be a decent amount faster, and you get the newest drivers. As for the ram, at least get 6Gig of 1600MHz. An AMD 6300 and a better GPU would be a better route, but I'm pretty sure they don't have mini-itx boards for amd...I guess the 2500k works, I'd rather get a 3570k. The bitfenix does fit microatx boards but I forget what you have to do for it...logan has a video on it.
Yeah I was gunna say the same thing. If you can find a 2500k under $200 USD or if you have one laying around then thats a done deal. Other than heat issues, I can't imagine another reason to go with it over the 3570k. If you're not overclocking I don't see that being a problem though? Yes? No? idfk...
And the same goes for the 560 Ti. If it isn't under around $175 USD or laying around on a shelf for free, I'd say go for a 660 or 660 Ti if it's in your budget. Besides drivers and power requirements, you get the higher vRAM, which a lot of games these days are going to require. And also, around triple the CUDA cores which I assume is the reason you're going with Nvidia over AMD.
i refuse to get an amd prossecor. i just prefer intel, and i also am not really bothered about overclocking. i only spend 3/14 days there. also, i sm not doing editing on this machine, i said that i already have one for editing at my dads. it has a 2700k and 16gb of 1600mhz ram. i used to have a rig that only had 4 gb of ram and it was fine for what i used it for, and what imma use this one for. but thanks anyway

the reason imma use a 560ti is cos im using it now, and am gonna upgrade to a 660ti. and i think i will use 1600mhz ram, but i just put that cos im not really bothered about like a few milliseconds lag. i had a system with only 4 gigs of ram before, and it was fine for games and skype, which is what imma use it for and not much else. i might go with a 3570k, but it fails to dissipate heat basically. thanks anyway
