Good program for animating

hey im thinking of becoming a animator and im wondereing whats the best tool to use for free

Have you got any examples of the type of animation you'd like to do?

Something simple to start with is PIVOT, I last used it in about 2004 but I'm sure it's still a great starting program for learning the basics of animation, and it's free

im thinking of doing some minecraft animations as a bit of a hobby or anything that comes to mind

LIke Machinima videos? Can you post a link to an example video and I can try tell you what software was used to make it

I can't see the video right now. But Blender? It's free and has very good support and a wonderful comunity.

OP have a look at Cinema 4D lite, Blender, and pivot. The video above looks like it's probably C4d

Pivot will help you learn how to animate 2D movements and there's no learning curve. For the other programs have a look for some youtube videos that will explain the basics to you of working in a 3D space

Blender.

Blender. Once you learn to use it you can do a lot

I deal a lot in animation (characters / architectural) and i use blender for the past 3 years. Blender is a pain in the butt to learn but when you do then sky is the limit (very good and well designed tools especially for animations). There are a number of good tuts on the internet and a vast community. For anything els in particular don't hesitate to contact me and I'll do my best to help you

sounds great do you have any links to some good tutorials? if so they would be a great help

Very helpful are the tutorials from Andrew Price, Gleb Alexandrov, Blender HD and BlenderDiplom over on youtube, although if you are an absolute beginner then any basics tutorial will help you to get familiar with the controls and logic of blender. Also if you want to get seriously involve with the software then you can go to blender.org and purchase the tutorials dvd's witch are very good and detailed and also a very good way to help the evolution of blender. Other than that if you want something very specific that you can't find on the internet (highly unlikely) then you can always post to the blender comunity. After that it's a lot of trial and error as with any program. Hope that's helpful
