Hi everyone, I stil don't know which parts to choose for a nas.
i was searching and i decided i want ECC memory, because the data is really important. i don't know about registerd or unregistered memory. i found this motherboard which is sadly ATX but i can deal with that. it has 10 sata3 ports which is a huge plus. http://www.asrockrack.com/general/productdetail.asp?Model=C226%20WS
i plan to use it with a xeon 1230v3 and 2x8gb ram. don't know which ram to choose. the board supports udimm which is unregistered right? i don't know if i need that.
file server which cannot fail (ecc memory probably) and i plan to run vm in it. i don't know really much about it but i want to learn it anyway. the nas is used 24/7 by different pc's at the same time.
i hope i can run something like arch in it and take control over the network with the nas. i hope i can set something like every hour copie /folder to /pc in network/folder. i'm probably the one who take control over the nas but i'm on wifi on that network. is that a problem? i don't know much about plugins aswell but i will probably use the usefull ones. Wendell really needs to make a video again about freenas or a nas in general. he should talk a lot more about vm's and plugins. i've good luck with ASRock aswell :) but they don't respond to my mail. i send one 2 days ago to the ASRock Rack team.
