Good mobo?

is this a decent mobo for the fx 6300? Gigabyte 970A-UD3P AMD 970

Its semi Decent.. but then again I have had bad gigabyte experiences and I have friends who had that board pop

You really should go ASUS here..or ASROCK.. because they have far better boards with far better UEFI... whatever you DO.. DONT GO MSI... For further explanation of why you shouldnt go MSI.. hit me up in PM or IRC.. i could tell you alot about that

the main reason i asked about this mobo because its around the amount of money i would like to spend on a mobo i dont have enough to beable to get one more than a £100

Well its okay... you may get the luck of the draw with a good board but hey its your call... Id still say my suggestions stand :)

Gigabyte 970A-UD3P with 8+2 powerphase is a totaly fine mobo for a FX6300.
But keep in mind, a 970 chipset board does not support Sli.

But thats basicly the only con with 970 boards in general..

@ninja85a ignore me.. i just gripe about EFI.. because ive experienced good efi and cant stand bad EFI lols

well your mobo´s sugestions are nice aswell basicly.
Also a good board for the money, Msi 970A Gaming, or Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0

I didnt even think of that board... probably because i looked higher up on the AMD chipset food chain... but thats a great board.... MSI meh... meh meh meh.. but I wont flood the thread :P ... haha
see now im being a fan boy haha

About SLI I learned that if you are on budget the next time you upgrade your pc there is going to be a new generation of GPUs and is better to upgrade rather than SLI (I'm running a 760 and waiting for Pascal or 300 series instead of SLI)

I don't regret the Asus M5A99FX Pro R2.0, though and @MisteryAngel helped me choose my mobo you are in good hands

Edit: I also learned that Pistol used that Mobo

I exaly have the Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0 lols.

I keep forgetting you havent upgraded to 2011v3 yet :D... but ill talk to you elsewhere.. best not to derail another thread haha :P

so i will beable to oc it to around 4.5GHz and i dont care about sli iam a radeon user

  • Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3P
  • Asus M5A97 EVO R2.0
  • Msi 970A Gaming

These 3 boards in particular should be capable to overclock a FX6300 without any issues.
like i said the only con of 970 chipset is basicly the lack for dual gpu setup, but with an FX cpu, you basicly should not botter with dual gpu setups anyway.

Of course if you are looking at a new cpu + mobo, and you could afford a 4690k + Z97 board, or a locked i5 with an cheaper H97 board, then i would recommend something like that, if your main goal is gaming.
But i assume that might be above budget.

But if you are on a tight budget, then a FX6300 + one of the three 970 boards i mentioned above, + midrange gpu. would be a nice setup.

yeah i already have the gpu i plan to use a r9 270 which is one of the bust purcheses i have ever made and i just need a decent case to fit all the components in with a good cooler something like the coolermaster hyper evo 212

so between the msi or the gigabyte which one would you recommend?

coolermaster hyper 212 is an good cooler for the money, you cant realy complain.
Not sure if its decent enough to let you push 4.5Ghz + but i think 4.0Ghz shouldnt be a problem.

270 is a midrange card, But it will have issues with upcomming tripple A games, i have a 7870Ghz my self, which is basicly a 270X, But if i speak about AC Unity for example, i can hardly hit 30fps in that game.

For a case, well basicly i would not invest too much in a case. Of course a nice case with a side window, and a few pre installed fans would be nice, like the NZXT Phantom 240 maybe, or if it realy has to be cheap the Deep Cool - Tesserct with window or something along that lines.

depends a bit on what you prefer.
The FX6300 is way less powerhungry then a FX 8 core for that matter.
So either board would be fine.

The Msi 970 Gaming, is by the way the only board that i would recommend from Msi any other board then the gaming, is totaly rubbish.
But the Msi 970A gaming, has some very nice onboard feutures like a decent onboard audio. nicer bios.

The Gigabyte 970A-UD3P is allready an older board, it does not look that spectacular lol, but it does has a decent 8+2 powerphase design.
But again the bios is a bit les spectacular, and also the onboard audio isnt special.
But i do think that the UD3P could be a better overclocker.
