I've recently discovered that I love to listen to Agalloch while taking walks on cold nights, it's brilliant.
So, if you guys could post some good similar artists, I'd be grateful.
I'd like it to be as similar as possible (black metal, melancholic feeling)
Oh, and the reason I didn't post this on KIM, it's too inactive. I know that I'll get faster/more responses here.
Thanks in advance!
Problem is, there aren't many bands similar to Agalloch.
First one I could think of is Kauan, which is essentially a Russian Agalloch.

They're probably my favorite black metal band right behind Agalloch. Look up the song "Tortured by Solitude". In fact, the album is called "Melancholie2". So.. yeah.
If you don't like it.. I.. there are no words. It seems right up your alley.
..Cold World.
Check out Ulver, Drudkh, Kauan.. and yes, Wolves in the Throne Room.

Bands kinda like agalloch
Falloch, Fen, Alcest, Alda, Dornenreich, Les Discrets and early ulver.
Thats all i could think of at the top of my head. But here are some other great depressing/sad black metal bands that arent very much like agalloch
Gris, Woods of desolation, Austere, Altar of Plagues, Lost inside, Lyrinx, Thy Light.
Some random good black metal bands
Lantlos, Drudkh, Summoning, Wolves in the throne room, Windir, Waldgeflüster
Need any more recommendations on a certain style of black metal?

Only "black" about Agalloch is their vocalist. I'd call it slow(/doom) melodic death-metal.
Have fun searching !
"Vinterland", epic band from sweden that only released one album in 1995. Probably the best album ever released. "welcome my last chapter"

I love vinterland... ok, here are my selections:
Fall of Rauros http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9_Y1KczRAQ
Wodensthrone (a bit too much keyboard for me though) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3SpwX6e9gJQ
Shining (most of their albums are awesome) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=828attiEfzk
The Foreshadowing (more doom/goth but not far off) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kyMB4L0J7Ms
Octover Falls http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hm1zjGrsO_U
Waldgeflüster http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjltG67BQ5E
To add to the already mentioned, though the two I like to listen from time to time, but are more doom metal, would have to be Tiamat or My Dying Bride
I see Windir has already been mentioned, and here's one of the most melancolic tracks Valfar (lead vocal) ever made. His early passing away at 25, and myself coming from the same town as the composer strengthens the song for me, but I think it has universal appeal. This one was published in 1999, album Arntor.
