I've been thinking about switching from my TN panel to an IPS monitor lately, and I finally decided to start looking because it's black friday and knew there would tons of deals! I was wondering if this would be a nice IPS monitor for the price: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16824005589
If not, could you recommend me a better IPS monitor that is at least 1080x1920 and has vesa compatibility, thanks!
You get what you pay for with that monitor.
The image quality should be fine, but reading the reviews some people complain about the color being "off".
You may be able to adjust the settings to your liking, but the low price means obvious cut corners such as bad, wobbly stand. However you mentioned vesa compatibility which leads me to believe you will be using a aftermarket stand.
I'll do some shopping around and get back to you if I find anything. Best of luck.
Update: I didn't find many deals on monitors, however if you can bump up the price a little I would go with this.
http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-VS239H-P-23-Inch-Full-HD-Monitor/dp/B008DWITHI/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1417208263&sr=8-1&keywords=ips+monitor
It is a very popular monitor and has great reviews, but isn't on sale. I'm also in the market for an ips monitor for around the same price, and personally I'm going to wait and see if anything happens on cyber monday.
The monitor I linked got sold out, so I did a little looking myself. I like the monitor you linked and this one: http://www.amazon.com/AOC-23-Inch-Frameless-LED-Lit-Monitor/dp/B00CPZJP7C
Which one seems better to you?
The two monitors are incredibly similar, but personally I would go with the Asus because I trust Asus and it has a 3 year warranty.
I'm just gonna say it... IPS isn't worth an upgrade over TN unless you're going bigger and higher res... or just want a multi-monitor setup...
Yes, there is a wider viewing angle.... no, it isn't an infinitely wider viewing angle
I just want an all together new monitor because my current one is TN panel without any TN advantages.. It has a 5ms response time and only 60hz refresh rate. Also, the colors are quite awful, and has no vesa mounts. So, I guess it's not an essential upgrade, but it's something I've been looking at
lol wut?
TN pannels are terrible, the viewing angles suck, and the colors are awfull.
IPS or PLS is way better.
LG ips monitors are good. Basicly any decent brand use LG ips panels inside. only the calibrations are diffrent. For example those over expensive Apple cinema displays, is nothing more then an LG ips panel.
Dell Ultra sharps are also very good. probably a bit on the expensive side. But they are awesome.
My Samsung 24" 1080p TN looks better than my new BenQ 27" 1440p... color-wise, blacks being true... does it have as wide of a viewing angle? No... is the viewing angle infinite like a TV? Not even close vertically... horizontally it's significantly better than the TN... is it worth the $150+ upgrade? Put it into the tower IMO
That's not even the point of this thread.
OP has a TN panel that is shite and doesn't have any TN advantages, just like mine currently, which also means it's one of the lower viewing angle TNs like mine which is like 90 dergrees and 70 degress or something.
Going to an IPS would grant you accurate colour (color) and the best viewing angles or 178 degrees (i think it's that for both axis).
Now there are TN panels with 170 and like 120 degree viewing angels I think, but even then they aren't more than 60hz and are the same price as an IPS monitor, so you may as well go with IPS.
It goes like this TN then IPS the TN.. In order of price, those being the standard cheapest possible monitors which are 5ms response, 90 degree viewing angles and 60hz and TN. Then you step up to 178 degree angles, 5ms response time IPS panels with great colour. and then after that is the 144hz TN panels.
So i'd go with IPS because the advantages are cheaper than TN advantages unless you need 144hz/1ms.
Thanks, and I definitely don't need the 144hz/1ms, so I'm gonna go with an IPS monitor
The TN advantages I was talking about are response time and refresh rate, and my current monitor has 60hz/5ms, so my TN panel doesn't have any advantage over an IPS monitor is what I was trying to say
Anyone find any cyber monday deals on ips monitors?
