Good Inexpensive Gaming Headset?

Hi folks,

I'm looking into getting some gaming headsets but I'm not looking to destroy my wallet either. Something under $130 is the range I'm looking at. As for the headsets, I want something with pretty decent surround sound if possible and a decent microphone to go with.

i want a Logitech G35 for around $90 on sale but after fishing around for reviews, I've heard they aren't that good for people looking for surround sound.

I also found a Cosair Vengeance 1500 for $60 but similarily to the G35, I've heard they don't have the best surround sound.

All I'm interested in is hearing if some baddies are trying to tickle my bum from behind and talking to some friends.

Obviously truely good surround sound is going to come at a much higher pricepoint than the one I'm looking at but if any of you have any suggestions, I'd like to hear them.

Cheers.

$90? Take a look at the steelseries 7h and the siberia v2. I used the Plantronics Gamecom series of headphones and played leagues for a long time using them unamplified, never had a problem. Now i bought a pair of headphones that are better suited for music and movies which still retain great directionality.

I've also heard great things about the Vengence 1300s, but they're best served with a neadphone amp IE the Xonar DG.

If you're looking for something really great, sennheiser 350s and Skull Candy PLYR1s are excellent but the 350 require amplification.

Also i've heard a40s are great if you can find them in the $100/lightly used area.

I can help you a lot here. The Rosewill RHTS-8206 Gaming Headphones are right up your alley, they have true 5.1 surround sound and a damn good microphone as well. I do have a video review on them if you want to watch it
