Alright so here's the deal. i've been a console gamer since I was seven and have played consoles religiously until a year ago when I made the switch (yay me). I still mainly use a controller and since I had that planned when i built my current rig i got a really budgetty budget gaming mouse that is good except it stutters in games, some games I don't notice it, bf4 is horrendous with mouse stutter. I've been trying to switch to mouse and keyboard since i'm already at the top of my game with controller so mouse is the only way I can improve farther and the stuttering makes trying to switch undesirable and I end up back using my controller 5 minutes later every time. enough of the back story here's the meat.
What I want:
4800 DPI minimum, 4800 is what feels natural to me anything slower feels like pulling through molasses
'sniper button' (low dpi press and hold) is a plus or the ability to set up a button as a sniper button.
the color needs to be either black, red and black, or black with red/color changing leds. i would prefer one of the latter two but just black works.
Optical or Laser is fine if you think one is better than the other feedback on that is appreciated!
Ergonomics is important to me I also like a part of the mouse to rest my thumb that's a plus but i know that's rare. I have normal sized hands except my fingers are about half an inch to an inch longer than the 'norm'
I like buttons, lots of buttons are nice but not mmo style that's just cumbersome thumb work.
I don't have a budget per-say but mice approaching the 100 dollar range kind of scare me away so it needs to be flawless if it gets up in that range, cheaper is better! (just not el cheapo like this Perixx)
I have a larger hand and like both my Logitech G602 wireless and Func MS2 wired. The G602 has more buttons but lower DPI. The Func has RGB led and just feels nice, sniper button, 2 thumb buttons + mute.
Logan has a review on the mouse i just fell in love with this is great! my night is complete i'm sold I thought I was going to be spending ages finding the right mouse. Thanks for the help nothing has been this easy in a long time :) also holy shit Logan types fast as hell!!!!!
I just got a Mionix Noas 7000 and I love it. If you have bigger hands it feels great. It is very ergonomic. It doesn't have a sniper button but I recommend you check it out.
I've been using a Corsair M65 for about 6 months now. It pretty much fits all of your specified requirements, and the new version is RGB so you can change the colors.
My hands are very thin but very long, so think 'large' size gloves or maybe even longer, and my finger tips rest exactly where I want them.
Laser sensor is 8200DPI last I checked, and I think there's an optical version available if you don't like laser.
Build quality is great in my opinion. Slide pads are very slick and the grip surface is perfect for tense gaming sessions. Buttons feel very solid and give the sensation they will last quite some time.
Just plain fits my hand perfectly and matches my grip style (claw with the butt of the mouse just resting under my palm) so it's my favorite mouse I've ever used. Hope this is helpful!
I have the M65 old version and I wouldn't recommend it. The right side panel has come loose and the middle mouse button doesn't work unless you press it really hard. Other users on OCN have had the same issue. I hope that your mouse remains in good condition General Pickle. I treat my things with a lot of care and this still happened. Just my opinion. But aside from things not working and breaking it is a very good feeling mouse.
I generally try to stay away from Logitech and Corsair. My g500s is beginning to fail and other brands innovate. take a look at the Steelseries, gigabyte, roccat, or mionix mice. I'm partial to the ROCCAT Kone.
It's funny you mention that; my roomie bought the mouse as well after he saw mine and his has become worn out with about half the usage time of mine. I think it can be a product of the wrong shape for the wrong hand as well as some admittedly poor structural design choices. In any case mine is in great condition and I love it, but perhaps it's just the perfect fit for me. General mouse buying advice: try using the mouse before buying it if possible. Find friends who have the mouse you're interested in and see if you can test it out for a while.
You sounded like you don't like the classic Deathadder / Intellimouse shape for mice. In that case, the Mionix Naos or Avior 7000 may suit your liking.
zowie ec1 is just like the deathadder. only a handful of the steelseries mice and the zowie fk1 use the ambidextrous design. EC1 is the best mouse I have ever used.
I got mine with the monoprice rebrand that logan was showing off around christmas....... I have used basically every intel/logi mouse up till the newer (POS) g series mice, and a large number of razer and steelseries mice. The zowie is the best of them all bar none.
