I'm not sure if you're going to be able to find better than an i7 + 1800p display for 800 bucks even if the keyboard is different
Also I think this is a similar model
Best deal ive seen yet... And yes thats the 4GB 960m for $799
Dell Inspiron i7559-763BLK 15.6" Full-HD Gaming Laptop (Core i5, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD, NVIDIA GeForce GTX960M) with Windows 10
wow that is a great deal, but I think I'm gonna with something more oriented for school work and that i can take in my backpack.
great deal or no, that thing is eight pounds x)
I would strongly recommend buying a refurbished laptop. My last two laptops (a Macbook Air and an Asus) were manufacturer refurbished. I saved about $300 on each and they were basically new and worked perfectly. Newegg has a pretty nice selection of refurbished gaming laptops.
Edit: or since you're looking for something more portable, something badass like this would be in your price range if you go refurbished.
Dimensions and Weight
Height: 1 inch (25.3 millimeter)
Width: 15.1 inch (383 millimeter)
Depth 10.4 inch (265 millimeter)
Weight: 5.67 pounds (2.572 kilogram) with FHD non-touch.
8lbs?
sorry i guess amazon had the wrong info
Honestly this thing is perfect in everyway for gaming/school/work/play and it looks rather unassuming. Most people wouldnt think its worth stealing conpared to a MSI Gaming laptop for instance but its still got alot of the same specs as some of them and for less.
yeah good point
Oh that is probly the shipping weight with box/laptop/documentation/psu/etc
haha yeah that makes more sense
Never been fans of Asus. My Friend who has the 2 popular ones back in the day. They didn't last long I'd say 3 years max. I would stick to Alienware & Sager laptops (sometimes rebrand as Clevo). Or find used ones they have better specs usually.
Alright so I've narrowed it down to these two models:
The Lenovo Thinkpad:
(this first one is available closer to me)

This one looks good, has a skylake i5, same RAM but has an SSD, and is cheaper to boot

Looks like I might go with the Acer, seeing as I was thinking of switching out the 1TB HDD in the Lenovo for an SSD. The integrated graphics I'm not to worried about, because if this is going to be my daily driver for school then I think I'll be good.
NOTE: I'm aware there might be better deals, but another factor is that I'd much rather pick my laptop up in store than wait for it to come in the mail.
Are you still looking for a gaming laptop? The 940M is not capable of gaming very well, it isn't even labeled as a GTX chip. A 950M would do much better, if the 850M is a good point of reference for that tier.
Lenovo isn't too bad, nor is the R9 M375, the Y50 is also a good choice. The wait is often worth it.
Nah I've sort of moved away from needing it to be a gaming machine
Ah, got ya. Going for a ultrabook (I scrolled up :D)? Dunno about you, but I spent all my budget on a laptop with a ton of CPU power, realized it isn't 100% usage, but I am stuck with it, haha. Good fun though, it's my CPU beast.
Yeah I ended up getting the Acer Aspire R14 that I mentioned earlier. It's actually not bad at all for the price, I'm very happy with it :D
This one is pretty great, also have good linux support.
