Good Gaming Build?

I am new to PC building and would like to know if this build is the best for the money. I think all the components are compatible. Give me any thoughts you have/ problems I may run into.

Motherboard: ASRock 970 EXTREME4 AM3+ AMD 970 SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 ATX AMD Motherboard with UEFI BIOS (Newegg $100)

CPU:AMD FX-8350 Vishera 4.0GHz (4.2GHz Turbo) Socket AM3+ 125W Eight-Core Desktop Processor $180

GPU: HIS IceQ Radeon HD 7870 Ghz Edition 2GB Video Card  $200

Ram: G.Skill Ripjaws X Series 8GB (2 x 4GB) DDR3-1866 Memory  $29.99

PSU: XClio 550W ATX Power Supply - $52.98

Case: Fractal Design Define R4 Arctic White Silent ATX Mid Tower Case (Newegg)

: $110

HDD:WD Caviar Blue 500GB 7200 RPM  $59.98

CD/DVD: ASUS 24X DVD Burner - $17

Total~ $750

I dont want to go over $800 with this build.

Assuming that the PSU you chose is the same as this:

I'd advise against it. It might blow up your build. It's a 3 rail design, and that 550 is MAX power, not CONTINUOUS power, which are two different things. If you're overclocking or getting a decent GPU, you'd want 24 amps or more on the 12V rails. The best way to assure that is getting a single rail PSU.

You're on the right track with the wattage, but I doubt that particular PSU is up to the task.

Either of these are solid, reliable choices

And these Corsair PSU's are on sale at the moment for a great deal

Personally, I'd spring for a 600w or greater (again, corsair on sale) if you're going to overclock both the CPU and GPU, but if it's one or the other, 500-550w is fine.

Other than that, the build is good.

nicer psu, cheaper case.

Thanks. I think I'll build this as soon as I save the money.
