Good games for low-spec laptop?

I have decided to only take a laptop with me to college, as my desktop is a large mid tower and is rather bulky and heavy to be transporting to and from college every couple of months.

My laptop has a 2.4Ghz Intel Core i5 quad, and Intel Iris Graphics (otherwise known as Intel HD 5100) Obviously, the onboard intel graphics seriously limit my machines gaming performance.

I am looking for suggestions on good games (new and old) that do not have high system requirements and that will run at reasonable frame rates on my laptop.  I will be using an external 1920x1080 monitor and prefer not to play at resolutions below 1600x1050.

I love old Star Wars games (many of which I already own, Battlefront 2, Jedi Knight 2, Starfighter etc.) and third person open world games (Just Cause 2, GTA 4, although it should be noted I can play these games but at low settings and at 1600x1050) I also am a casual Dota 2 player.

Any suggestions are welcome!

Pretty much every Source engine game ever should run without issues. Probably a lot of Unreal Engine 3 games could run. At least before 2012.

Torchlight 1 and 2 should be fine

Witcher 1 should work on med/low settings

Drakensang or Diablo 2 (or 1 even)

And if things get really desperate - there is always minesweeper and tetris

I have a laptop with HD 4000 graphics, and I have been playing Doom 3 BFG edition with it.

- Age of empires

- lego racers (I remember playing that a very long time ago)

- indie games (Dont starve maybe)

- you could try some old Brothers in Arms games (mabey too stressful for your system)

- and of course DOOM

Everything by valve. most unreal engine 3 games from before the most recent decade change at the least, borderlands 1 and 2 will work fine though., witcher 1 should run, Alice madness returns.
