Good cpu cooler

im looking for a new cpu cooler for overclocking my cpu but i just dont know what to get. ive been looking at the corsair h60 and the thermaltake water 2.0 performer but aparently there a air coolers that are better, i am very confused. A little help would be nice. PS dont post anything from new as they do not post to Australia

Whats your budget then we can work from there as I know all the best deals for specific things in Australia :P

If your in Australia you may find those closed loop water coolers are better becase of the hot room temperature (ambient room temperature)

Australia doesn't get as hot as you think. Stereotypical

Right now I am sweating my balls off. In Canberra.

But good thread - I am currently undertaking similar decisions. I have built a gaming rig for a mate and am currently setting up to OC it. It is an FX-6300 and I would really like to know what the most cost effective cooling set up would be. Budget wise we only have about $50 left so it would need to be cheap!

Price wise in Australia I would go for MSY. Their service is the WORST IN THE UNIVERSE but if you know what you are looking for they beat most Australian retailers for price by miles. Even the online ones without storefronts.

I would also suggest PCCASEGEAR is well in Australia as they have reliable service and damn cheap prices.

If you can wait til the 11th of april

The Dark Knight is a great cooler and about 50% better then the Hyper 212 check the video below.

oooOOoooo

Looks sweet. But the 11th is so far away... Curse my impatience!

I think we will be going with a Hyper 212 EVO and some nicer Noctua thermal compound. It will do for now.

my budget is around 120 at the most. i dont think my case can fit the hyper 212 evo.

If you have $120 I would go for an H100 (~$100 at MSY) if you have somewhere to mount the radiators. Even if you don't have somewhere to mount them, you could always ghetto rig something.

The main thing here is that the actual block itself doesn't take up much space - so if you have a small case this option should still work for you.

i would want to get a h100 but if i do i will have to cut the top cover of my case of to mount it or find some brackes to mount it in the drive bay.

Ghetto rig baby. Cut some holes to run the tubing out through and buy some brackets from Bunnings to mount the thing on at the back of the case. Or, just buy a new case... You can get an Antec GX700 for $75 which has a spot at the top of the case that is basically made for that kind of cooler. Plus it comes with two 140mm fans that you could place elsewhere after shifting them out of the way for the radiator on the H100 (also has one other 120mm exhaust at the back but you could leave that where it is). Though that may be blowing the budget some...

ive decided to get the h100 and just to cable tie it into the drive bay and get a better case later on. thanks for spotting out the 100 dollar h100 for me though.
