Good Candidate for Delid?

Hey gang - I have a i5 3570k that I would like to check a few things on and maybe squeeze a bit more performance out of.

Currently it is running 4.2GHz @ 1.15v

It is also being cooled by a Kraken x40 CLC - but even with this it hits 71 deg C under Intel burn test.

I have a better fan coming for the rad (Akasa Viper 140mm 3.12 pressure @ 110CFM) and Arctic Silver 5 TIM

The question is if its already hitting 71 deg at 4.2 with relatively low voltage, and it will post but not boot at 4.4 @1.30v - is it worth delidding - or is this chip just crappy needing such high voltage?

The alternative involves swapping it out for a E3 1230 v2.

Any thoughts or feedback is appreciated.

(850W PSU, Asus Maximus V Formula Mobo - so i doubt these are the reason)

Cheers!!

I delidded my 3770k with liquid pro and It dropped my temps at 4ghz form 70c to 60c on my hyper 212 under OCCT.  I would recommend you use liquid pro ultra to delid but arctic silver is what I tried on mine first and it did an alright job.

hmmm well in that case i might use liquid pro for the die and heatsink, and use the arctic silver for my GPU.
