Good budget AMD processor?

Hey guys, I'm building my first PC and the only thing I'm indecisive about is my processor. Right now I'm looking at the Phenom II 965, which has gotten a lot of mixed reviews. If you want to see my full build, it's here: http://pcpartpicker.com/p/Nopm

So, what do you guys think? I'm looking for a processor thats $150< but I'm willing to sacrifice some other parts in my build to make it work. Thanks in advance!

I have the AMD FX 4130. Pretty cheap, quad core 3.8 GHz.

nuthing wrong with the AMD Phenom if you what a better chip than that you whant the fx 6300

The fx 4xxx cpus just are not as good even the fx 6100 is not as good (i have had both chips)

That processor looks great.  I recommend any quad core AMD processor over 3.0 GHz.  Maybe you can get a six core AMD CPU over 3.0 GHz in case games start using more cores in the future, but right now all you need is four cores (a quad core CPU).

Thanks, that's what I was hoping to hear. I'll probably upgrade to a six core once I get the money, but I'll stick with the Phenom for now. Thanks a lot for the help.

Check out some youtube overclocking videos for the Phenom II X6 1045T. It's currently going for about $100. It's a bit on the slow side of things, but it overclocks pretty well for only having the bus rate to tweak. On the plus side though, it does have six cores and they are six real cores, not the bulldozer or pile driver modules. And the HT multiplier and memory multipliers will allow you to lower them to increase stability when you push the bus clock. The motehrboard you chose should even allow you to get some voltage adjustments in if you really want to see how far you can push it.
