Hi I need help with my network as i just got a new fiber cable put in by Virgin Media and the connection is max of 150 mb/s down and uploads locked at 12 so i want to get a good router which can handle that speeds or more I’d also like it to have QOS and support for a VPN if possible? this is my speed test without VPN and the provided modem / router.

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated thanks David
Hey ... so just a stupid question on my part but how are you performing the speed test? Ethernet or Wi-Fi? and also what is the modem/router you are currently using? Just asking cuz it all helps give you the best answer for your needs and might possibly explain why you aren't getting the speeds your paying for.
I'm not a fan of Wi-Fi access points and routers combined into a single unit colloquially known as a "router". APs need to be near where you are going to be using it. Routers on the other hand need to be where it is convenient to get wires to. I generally don't recommend combo units to anyone with any amount of technical savvy. It's so much easier to troubleshoot separate devices and reset/reconfigure/replace them individually, as needed, and not have to disrupt your entire network at the same time.
http://www.smallnetbuilder.com/tools/charts/router/view This is one of the more useful sites that I've found. They do thorough benchmarking/reviewing of just about every networking device you might be considering.
Fibre routers aren't necessary.
If your Virgin Media router can act as a 'modem' you can use a Ethernet cable from your Virgin Media router into the router you want.
I'm on an ethernet connection Cat 5e.
Ok Thank's.
Thanks
Are you looking for qos or traffic shaping?
