This is my first post and also my first time really buying speakers so all help is appreciated. I'm currently looking for a set of 2.1 speakers for listening to music on my PC within the price range of $60-$80 NZD or $45-60 USD. I can go a bit over budget without worrying but preferrably around the $60-$80 NZD price point.
Again any help will be appreciated and of course. Merry Christmas Eve
They are currently $55, and a good 2.1 set of speakers. I own the non-bluetooth version of these and had them around 3 years, they are excellent. They can connect to any device that accepts a jack outlet such as a iphone to a desktop pc. Now they have wireless capabilites which makes them even better!
For that price, most of your options aren't going to sound great... 2.1 systems don't really start sounding relatively good until you get into the $100 range. So, for that price, I'd skip the sub and go for something like the Monoprice 8250 (also known as the MBS-650) for $31:
Pair either with a little class T amplifier, like the Lepai 2020 for $20:

and you'll have a pretty good $50-$60 bang for your buck set up that you can always expand in the future. It wont have quite as much bass as most 2.1 systems, but the 2.1 sets in this price range likely wont have good sounding bass anyway.
With all that said, if you can save up for a while and get into the $100-$150 price range, things start opening up quite a bit in the budget audio world. The Klipsch 2.1 set is quite good for the money. The M Audio AV40s are quite good 2.0 powered monitors as well. You may also be able to find something like the Pioneer BS22 bookshelf speakers on sale or used for $100 or less. Pair them with a decent class T amp or even a used Receiver for $50 or $60, and you'll have a very nice sounding entry level setup that can be expanded later with a sub and/or better amp/receiver if you like.
I'd suggest the Cyber Acoustic Ca-3602a, you can get it from Amazon for around 50$ i believe. I personally have these, have been using them for almost 3 months now, can't guaranteed about their durability long term, but so far, they have been great.
I'm gonna be that guy for a moment. Don't forget to comb around your local thrift shops. I've found some great stereo speakers for under 20 bucks. Granted you might need a receiver but that isn't hard to find in thrift shops either.
Just make sure to check the item out online before you pick it up.
My house if full of speakers from doing this, honestly is kind of a problem.
