Looks like ASRock is at it again. The new ASRock X99 Extreme11 has 18 SATA ports, 8 of which are also SAS 12 Gbps compatible. All for a total of $650.

It even has a little fan thingie on it :D
Someone needs to use all these for the new 3dnan SSDs just for fun.
I wonder why asrock x99 has way less usb 3 on the rear io vs any other manufactures. I know they have 2 connectors for case usb 3 but I never seem to use them (on my amd system to be clear). I know this isn't a product for me but it just seems weird. The amount of sata is great but who is going to use that much sata without an actual raid card.
"I hold the world's data in my hands" if anyone were to buy this motherboard LOL
I completely forgot about their Z87 variant with 22 SATA ports.

We got tones of these in the data center and you can daisy chain em they work os SAS but i bet with a bit of recojiggering you can run 70 sata cables :p BTW ignore the 35 drive limit each side contains 35 drives
Just casually comes with 104TB.. eh, no biggy.

so? There are C2550 and C2750 boards
Asus has on with 4 SAS and 2 Sata ports (good for 18 sata drives).
http://www.asus.com/Commercial_Servers_Workstations/P9AIC2750SAS4L/
Supermicro has one with 16 Sata ports
http://www.supermicro.nl/products/motherboard/Atom/X10/A1SA7-2750F.cfm
Asrock has them with 8 and 12 Sata ports.

The only downside is that the boards are quite pricey with $400-$500 Else I would have replaced my xeon with 2 of those from Asus.
i think they will be upgrading them to 4TB drives soonish and then ill hate my job
