Don't insult mATX. Full ATX is over-rated. For an HTPC, you don't need much RAM. You also don't need a 7870, so you could drop the 7870 to a 7770 or 7850 and get a full 8GB kit.
Next rig will be SFF, probably mITX with a custom acrylic case and dual GPU card. SFF is the way to go; who wants a 60 pound computer, anymore? Definitely going mATX and below.
I have an Asrock 760g M-atx board with an fx 6300, and it's rocking so far. My only complaint is there isn't a 990fx one, although maybe my current board isn't much of a bottleneck. I need to convince someone to give me a 780 to test my theory out.
Your right, I was looking at this build thinking its a tight fit on gpu but he has it in the wrong slot cause the heatsink is covering the first one, should be fine with one card for sure, and make not that much diff with two.
