As the title states I’m in the process of a TR build. I currently have memory from a previous build (2400) 2 x 16GB. From my understanding I should benefit from faster memory speeds. With there being so many option and comparability concerns. I’m here seeking some suggestions or direction.
3200 is the sweet spot, older memory is usually not the best for clocking.
Samsung b die is the good stuff.
look for 3200 CL14 an it will usually be b die (not always)
I’m leaning towards this G.SKILL Trident Z RGB (For AMD) 32GB (4 x 8GB) 288-Pin DDR4 SDRAM DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600) AMD X399 Desktop Memory Model F4-3200C14Q-32GTZRX
DDR4 3200 (PC4 25600)
Timing 14-14-14-34
CAS Latency 14
Voltage 1.35V
Anything with CL14 will work fine. It’s all B-Die in the end.
Not true 100% of the time
You sure about that? M-Die isn’t capable of CAS 14 at 3200 MHz, and D-Die is CAS 15. If you’re paying B-Die prices for M-Die, you’ve been had.
How can you determine which Die you have?
Thaiphoon Burner can read AND modify the modules’ EEPROM, which contains the SPD timings and IC manufacturer information.

A well known IC collection thread is located here: https://www.overclock.net/forum/18051-memory/1627555-ryzen-memory-ic-collection-thread.html
There you go. From that screenshot, you know that the module in question has Samsung B-Die IC’s.
I am sure that cl 14 does not equal Samsung b die
Well then we can agree to disagree. If you can find a Micron or Hynix IC that can do CAS 14 at 3200 MHz, feel free to let me know.
I’ll dig it up tomorrow
Was unable to find the it on the QVL I was looking for, could have been this. Still wouldnt take CL14 3200 as a 100% chance b-die. Did find this so maybe it was on this MSI lising
