Gigabyte M27Q KVM switch losing mouse and keyboard between switching

Hello L1 people. Recently I needed to get a new monitor because my garbage salvage monitor didn’t have HDMI. So I choose the M27Q.

One of the selling points was the integrated KVM. However I am having some issues with it. When I boot up a computer with the monitor connected to that computer, everything works fine. But if I switch to the other, and then back, the computer loses the keyboard and mouse. Totally unresponsive. And if I switch to the other computer, it also becomes totally unresponsive to the Keyboard and mouse.

I have a hunch this is due to the KVM just being a USB hub and switch?

I am running Linux mint and Ubuntu. Is there any settings that will allow the keyboard and mouse to be detected between switching the monitor between computers?

I am probably not getting rid of the monitor or sending it back. It appears to have zero dead or stuck pixles, so I won that lottery. The KVM part was a bonus, and if it won’t work that is less than ideal, but fine.

Thanks for any replies and have a great day.
