Gigabyte GA-970A-UD3 vs. ASRock 970 EXTREME4 for this build

The HAF does not have USB 3.0 in the front panel so I might go for the NZXT But overall which mobo is best for the build?

NZXT Source 220

HAF 912

Anything else that could be imporved on this build? while keeping price simliar

both look good, its just down to your personal preference now

That CPU will bottleneck your GPU. Go 3570k or 8350 or you will be wishing you did. I'd suggest geting  http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161404&cm_sp=DailyDeal-_-14-161-404-_-Product

Its on sale for 199$ after rebate and its the 7870 logan recommends, and maybe get a bit cheaper PSU to counter the extra 100$ for the better CPU. Maybe wait till your next paycheck to get a good monitor if you already have one?

What do you mean bottleneck? I see a lot of builds use this combo of cpu and gpu
O__O
I am not sure what is better the Double D or the IceQ can you give me proof to help me out?

Personally, I'd go for the Source 220. I've done a build with the 210 and the case was easy to work with, plus I like the styling better. Only gripes I had were lack of fan filters and anti-vibration mounts, but I can't complain for $40. I'm not sure if that has been adressed in the 220, but it's tooless, which is more than the 210.

UPDATE: I think the build is fine, and failry well balanced. I think it is a little GPU heavy, but I wouldn't go as far as calling the CPU a bottleneck. The Phenom II x4 is still a very capable gaming CPU, especially if you factor in overclocking. Also, I'd go for the Gigabyte motherboard

I'll work on configuring one for ya

Looks very nice but I hear the FX series cpu has compatability problems

My friend cant play bornderlands 2, csgo, and other games because of it

But very nice build, you stayed in the range nicely o.o

Probably from Intel fanboys. Everyone I know with the FX series have no problem

Bottle neck means that the CPU isn't powerful enough to match the GPU, so you won't get the full use out of the GPU. If you notice Logan hasn't recommended this CPU in a long time because better alternatives are available. I don't know much about AMD cpus so I don't know a better alternative in the price range but I'm pretty sure the newer CPUs in the same price range do better. Do some benchmark comparisons that CPU might be ok now but in a 900$ computer build i'm pretty confident it wil leave you looking for more and might not be very future proof. If you decide to stick with that CPU atleast downgrade to the 7850 to save a few extra bucks you probably wouldn't bottleneck that one.

I think my friend has the octo core one thats why

But its real

also might be a driver related issue to

That's with bulldozer, not pile driver

Alright I see, thank you very much :D
Ill consider the FX series and read up a lot on it

You're welcome. Bulldozer was known to be faildozer

where do they come up with these names? do they have a mexican wrestling team working for them? (i'm neither intel fanboy or amd, computers are just tools to me)

I'm not 100% positive but I don't believe that Asrock board has a usb 3 header.

So would you say the FX 6300 is a better 965?

It should have USB3... My Asrock z77 extreme 3 has it so I assume this should too.

yep you are correct. My bad.
