Gigabyte BMC update?

I happen to have a Gigabyte MJ11-EC0 mainboard (EPYC 3151 SoC) with BMC version 12.41.xx (can’t recall, Aspeed 2500 chip). It worked fine for a while but for upgrade reasons I removed it from the case (so no PSU, only battery power) for a while and now I can’t reach the IPMI. It boots, but I can’t log in. IPMItool also has issues, so I’m inclined to do a BMC firmware upgrade. I found a version 12.61.01 and the accompanying projects.txt file contains my mainboard model, but just to be sure: can I use that BMC firmware on my board w/o bricking it? The system boots fine so the BIOS is OK. TIA!

Sometimes but not always. The danger is how big is the bmc chip. Sometimes 32 meg sometimes 64. The standsrdish image sizes have gone up

Good call, I almost forgot! I had a good look at the board and next to the AST2500 is a SK Hynix chip: H5AN4G6NBJR. This is a 4Gbit (256Mx16) memory chip, so I guess 64MB is about right. Strangely, the firmware images in the package I got for 12.61.01 are 66MB in size. Still hesitant, I may have to reach out to Gigabyte tech support (unless one of you has a shortcut to the GB folks  ) for directions/conformations here.

(I have a photo, let me know if anyone wants to see it)

Thx Wendell! :+1: :1st_place_medal:
