So going over net I ve encountered some major confusion about windows key reusing.
So there are 4 pcs with I think windows vista business or retail keys thy should not be OEMs.
As vista is getting outdated and every support cut from it these pc or newer ones would need windows 7 which would be great upgrade.
1st question can I reuse these vista keys without any issue to same or other pc to install windows 7?
2nd if I can instal windows 7 where do I download it from as it seems Microsoft only provides windows 10 download?
I don't think you can reuse the vista keys. And if you have a product key to windows 7 you can download them https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/home
A Vista key is a Vista key and a 7 key is a 7 key.
All versions of Microsoft Windows with the exception of 10-1511 can only be activated with a product key meant for their respective operating systems. Vista Key with Vista, 7 key with 7, 8 key with 8, and so on....
Microsoft does not provide OS downloads except Windows 10, with maybe some exceptions on the business side.
But what about retail versions of windows? We can download them right?
So those wont work at all just windows vista :(
No obviously not. I said we could download windows 7. Vista won't.
Just grab 7 in the same place you get all other free software, maybe possibly, hypothetically
