Getting Started: Making Minecraft Mods

Hi everyone,

I know that I need to know Java to be able to create a Minecraft mod, but I cannot find any good tutorials on getting started. If someone could point me to a good place to learn this, I would greatly appreciate it.

http://www.codecademy.com/ is probably the most comprehensive and easy way to learn, with exception to a personal tutor.

I do not agree. Codecademy may be interesting for people who really do not know about coding. But the OP did not really specify if he/she wants to learn to code in java or if he/she wants to create mods for Minecraft and already has a decent understanding of Java. So if this could be clarified, thank you.

Sorry I guess I didn't make that clear but I DO understand java. However,  I am unsure how to create a mod.
