Getting Bored of Gaming?

Lately, I've been getting bored of my game library. nearly 2,000 hours combined into Fallout 3 and New Vegas, I've played pretty much every mod worth playing. CS: GO is still fun, always will be, but It'd be way better with people to play with.  My library is pretty expansive, and getting any  new games is a non-issue, could the fabulous people 'round these parts recommend me some games, or mods to breathe new life into what I've got right now? I'm pretty flexible in terms of genre, I'll try just about anything.

Have you played Hotline Miami? I was the same for a while I got stuck in a rut of playing the same game for about 3 months and was bored with games, then I played Hotline and it was a cure all. Really fun but also very difficult. Just a fresh game when I came to it.

I really enjoy dark souls 2. Be sure to read up on how the game works though, going in cold turkey sends a lot of people away. I'm not even through the main story and I have like 50 hours in it. I know how you feel about being bored with every game you have, happens to me every now and then. I find that forcing myself to play a game for at least an hour sometimes helps me get more into whatever I'm playing.

I feel the same recently, looking forward to Borderlands Pre-Sequel, may get Kerbal space program, unsure yet.
Although a few years ago I went through a similar stage, more because of the situation at the time, but anyways, I completely stopped playing games for about a year, anyways when Skyrim came out, that was it, back to gaming it was, I think you personally may not be getting bored, just the industry its self is stale, all FPS strive to be BF4 or CoD, All MMOs want to be WoW etc, this is why I love indie, just make something random, also I really like TF2 and Loadout, check them out! loadout is rather fun, its F2P but its not P2W, you can of course purchase items, but if you play well, you can gain the items rather fast, and its just fun testing different guns, let your imagination go wild!

Go Fish when you say it would be more fun with people to play with are you referring to wishing you had some real life friends to play more games?  I know for me gaming has become empty when you can't share any experiences with people and have them understand what you are talking about.  When my son was little we used to do loads of BF gaming and some other stuff.  We would share fun, gaming experiences.  Now after having to deal with him becoming an addict to TF2 and the fallout from it which has me not even having him in my home now and even when he is over with his likes pretty much staying to TF2 and NHL games gaming with him is no fun.  He doesn't seem to want to goof around with games and try different things.  Also the last time I started a season with him in NHL he got angry cuz we were losing to AI and deleted the season after many games and I was like what was that for?  I thought I was playing a game he liked and spending father and son time with him and that would be good enough but nope.  Soooooo ... in my situation I got to figure out a way to get some real life gamer friends and have them over to play games and hang out locally but the problem is I am very afraid and anxious and I am 41 and have been dealing with this for almost 30 years now.  Anyway OP maybe you need to make some real life gaming friends.  I know I need to.

More IRL gamer friends would be great, yeah. Most of my friends play on console though. I just meant people tom play or goof around with online, really. Playing anything locally is pretty much a no go for me. I hope you find some new friends though, devilzz

What do you guys think of Isolation? I've heard a lot of mixed reviews.

it made me dizzy

You are totally right. All of the FPS gameplay mechanics seem to be similar for the last couple of years. Even the new upcoming game from Gearbox "Battleborn" looks to be borrowing gameplay elements from its "borderland" franchise. Indie games are the way to go in these times until a great FPS comes out.

We'll wait for it to return.

I would recommend games with great puzzles and low graphics for you. Some weeks ago Logan and Pistol were playing a great game on beergamesbeer. I think its called antichamber or something. Play through some games like that.

I was like this for a bit, really wanted to enjoy gaming but just found myself bored every time I tried.

I found salvation by mixing it up a bit I had a PS3 controller kicking about and a bunch of platformer games I had never played or completed so I hooked up the PS3 controller using SCP Server and sat back in front of my TV instead of my desk and started playing these games.

Turned out that a lot of the games were indie and it gave me a new found love for the genre because they were all really fun and challenging. In case you haven't played them I'll list the ones I really enjoyed but I think they're pretty popular:

FEZ - Really fun game, there is so much to do and it's really laid back most of the time and makes you feel good by solving tricky puzzles and the like. This game was great to play after a long stressful day, get home kick back have a beer and relax.

Super Meat Boy - This game is insane I love it, maybe I'm just crap at these kind of games as I haven't used a controller properly for about a decade but I think this game is insanely hard but really fun and satisfying when you finally get it at least if you play like I do and try to get Grade A in all levels, 100% completion and try your best to obliterate your Steam friends high scores! Great fun.

Thomas Was Alone - Another pretty relaxed one it has some tricky levels but mostly I enjoyed it for the narration it was witty and funny at times but also made you (or at least me) care about the random shapes on your screen and want to help them. I really liked this one and not just for the great British humour.

Battleblock Theatre - I'm still playing through this. I originally got it as it looked like something fun that me and my girlfriend could both enjoy together and I wasn't wrong we've been having a great time playing this and she isn't really into games so it has been a nice experience being able to enjoy this with her, had to get another controller but it was worth it.

I've been playing a few others that are good fun too this is just the ones that stood out to me hopefully you find something in there you'll enjoy. I started this a while back and since then I've found myself enjoying the games I was getting bored with before like Skyrim I think the change up from sitting at a desk to kicking back at a couch was refreshing as mundane as it may sound. I even tried playing some RPG's and FPS games with the game pad on the couch -No idea how console players do it, it felt clumsy and slow wouldn't recommend it.

Good luck.

Oh, I'm judging. I'm judging super hard.

Sometimes you just have to walk away for a little while.  I do this with Anime and Manga a lot.  Just take up another hobby to spend your time.  Grab a copy of Talisman and play a game or two with some friends one weekend.  Go to your local comic/games shop and try out a TCG or table top war game.  I dropped pc gaming for a few months two years ago, and now I have like $2000 worth of Warmachine in my closet.  This is probably a terrible suggestion.  Don't follow that suggestion.  Guild Wars 2 is $20 right now.  Try that, find me on Stormbluff Isle server -> omegajimes[dot]2471
