Getting a monitor arm setup for my dad's brithday

This is his current setup

Please forgive me for the poor quality photo as my mom texted me this as I don't live at my parents place currently.

Yes I know it has other issues with the fact that the desk i shit.. but his main issue is that their cats like to sit on the desk in front of the monitor blocking it.

My mom wanted to be able to raise the monitor to get it above it so obviously a VESA mount that can do that (yes that monitor actually has vesa support.. it is a dell e198wfp I I think... ) I don't know if the monitor can be viewed from below like that either so we might need to get a new monitor as well.

I think that it would be a good idea to get a pole that can have another arm added later on when my dad finally moves my brother's stuff out (as seen in the room to the right) and turns it into an office) so that my dad could have a 2 monitor setup... (I wanted to fit one here but my mom things 2 monitor setups are ugly -_-)

Note: My dad doesn't game this is just for basic stuff like excell ect

Shrug no one replied so I ended up figuring out a good solution myself.

I got a a Asus VN248H-P 24-Inch Full-HD LED Monitor for the monitor..
(that I managed to price check it with a sale on newegg.. the amazon rep was like we only price check on tv/phones and I was like.. this is basically a TV because it has 1 HDMI , 1 MHL HDMI, and speakers... saving myself $30)

and for the stand a Ergotech Freedom Arm - Metal Gray (FDM-PC-G01)

I had it shipped to my apartment and then I will take it out.. make sure shit isn't broken.. pack it up until I go home for spring break soon and give it to him for his birthday.

On an unrelated note.. I now am watching the SSD market for a good ~$100 SSD for him (it isn't a surprise though so I don't have to hide it and have more time because I can have it shipped home) but that is off-topic for this I guess.

I suppose I'll try to remember to get some pictures of the stuff in a few weeks when I am giving him the stuff.
