If you are mining, use cgminer: https://github.com/ckolivas/cgminer
Cgminer is more stable than bfgminer for most people, and definitely long term.
If you are mining for Tek Syndicate, they posted thieir address in here somewhere. Mine to it per their instructions. Make sure you install opnecl drivers for you gpu.
Next: To get started in bitcoin
step one: install a mining wallet. I HIGHLY recommend getting used to using an offline wallet system. Use bitcoin-qt and armory.
Bitcoin-QT: http://bitcoin.org/en/download
Armory: https://bitcoinarmory.com/download/
To get bitcoin: you can mine them, or you can buy them.
Popular exchanges: http://www.bitcoincharts.com/marktets (Choose the currency you want, and look into how to get funds into their system).
another possibility is using localbitcoins.com, where you will buy your coins directly from someone else.
Anything else you need?
The link to cgminer isn't working for me.
Also do I need to make an account or something?
Thank you very much for your help =D and so quickly,
-Andrew

sorry about that. Formatting messed up on here. Shift+enter is a NBSP character, even if it shows as a new line in the comment.
Anyways. yes and no.
For starters, Bitcoin address are nothing more than random strings of characters. In each address you have what is called a "private key", and a "public Key". There is a lot of math used to generate the public key that is safe to where no one can get your private key, and without that no one can try to send your bitcoin.
So in short, the private key is your main thing to worry about protecting with your bitcoin.
Bitcoin-qt is a VERY simple wallet program. It downlads 12 or 16 GB of data that is the blockchain, which is a list of every bitcoin transaction to date. As such having it and armory may be too intensive on your computer to run.
But if you can run it, use it. Please for the love of god don't forget yoru password, and do not have your wallet file on a windows machine.
So download and install bitcoin-qt and while it downoads the blockchain download armory.
Armory is an advanced wallet that has a system set up that can generate and guess which keys are yours by some magic I can't articulate... sadly. Anyways. If you backup your armory .wallet file on a machine, and then make new private keys in the wallet file, your backup doesn't have to be updated. This is the opposite for bitcoin-qt, which has to have the backup updated after each transaction.
As far as your account. if you make a wallet in armory, click on recieve coins. Then go to http://eligius.st/~gateway/
There you can get the server login information.
When you first run cgminer it will ask for your pool info, and your username and your password.
Use eligius's gbt or stratum server for mining, and use your public address that is gernerated in armory for your username. Use anything for your password.
Good luck! check out http://www.bitcoinx.com/profit/ to see how much it will cost.
Thank you very much,
I'll begin my adventure when I have a fresh brain tomorrow morning.
I'll probably be back for more help tomorrow, answer whenever you can please =D

Shall be doing my best.
Not a problem. We all start new to bitcoin. The idea is very mind blowing at first. :)

Be careful of your bank maximum withdraw depending on how you buy your bitcoin. good luck.
Alright, So I'm using GUIMiner because It seemed easier to set up for me. Over night which was about 7 hours I was running my GPU at 60% temp at 72 degrees C. 308Mhash/s generating 2220 shares for teksyndicate I'm pretty sure.
I used the username teksyn_andrewbsweeney as it's my username on here. Is that an issue because I couldn't find another username to use.
-Andrew
The username depends what pool you're mining with.
If you're mining with Eligius.st, you have to set up a wallet. Then click on "recieve bitcoin"
use that public address as your username.
What is the fee The tek takes from the pool?
