Oy there lasses and lads!
I'm rather new to the forum (first post) and I couldn't find a search function (so feel free to delete this/point me in the right direction if something similar exists).
Anyway, here's the deal: Why not make a comprehensive video, or set of videos, where Logan explains what the specs of individual pieces of hardware mean, what to look for when having a specific idea in mind and how to avoid rip-offs. Of course I would blindly follow your build-a-pc guides but I would like to know what to look for and understand what a certain piece of hardware has to offer. Also explaining some of the jargon and what not.
I'm a bit shite at explaining myself so here's an example: Let's say I make a PC following one of the vids. Later on I'd like to upgrade one of the components or simply change it for another one. If I could read the specs on the box/online and could understand them properly I'd make an informed choice.
I'm pretty sure that if I snoop around the forum or google it I could find all the information I need, but I'm a lazy git and I'm sure people would be happy to watch such a vid. Also because you guys make such a wonderful job in doing things that it's just a plain pleasure to watch a new video/set of videos.
As I said earlier, I apologize if such a suggestion has already been made and thus for my incompetence.
Greetings from the beautiful City of York!
It might be an idea... but google has you covered on the basics. For the more advanced and deeper looks... we'll there's not really a single answer there. Take a cpu: Some people might benifit from having an i7 with the added hyperthreading, but a lot of people won't. Logan cannot cover all the existing technologies and products.
Aye, indeed he can't. And I don't expect him to, but you know, the basics would be cool. As I said in the post, it's always a pleasure having the guys explain stuff. Because although exciting, reading through some stuff can get pretty boring at times.
But maybe put in some cool links to websites which explain things quite well for the more in depth stuff. I will read through some websites. If you know any good websites for that please do tell!
What sort of stuff are you looking for? :)
Hell, I could write up something for you, if you wanted.
If Logan were to do a video I'd imagine it set up like the "How to build a PC" vid, but instead of explaining how to put the pieces together, it'd be a short explanation of what the main and most important parts of every piece of hardware are and what they do. After which he could roughly explain the spectrum of power or whatever needed for specific tasks (everyday stuff, editing/mixing and gaming).
Then for the really in depth stuff there's always google.
What I'm looking for...well, what I just explained haha. A guide which helps a novice who wants to build a PC for a specific purpose to know which component could work best, by only reading what's on the box/website :)
I think I'm repeating myself...oh well.
Thanks guys!
The best way to figure this out is by following tons of hardware websites to be up to date on parts and stuff... My favourites are: PCPer, tweakers, hexus, hardware info.
