I plan on getting a GeForce GTX 760, but not sure which one to get. I found 4 types and not sure if there is any real difference between them. Can someone tell me which one is better or does it not really matter. I don't plan on over clocking at this point, so that isn't a factor.
It doesn't matter. It is personal preference. Some people favor a brand or cooler over others. They are all gtx 760s. They will all perform the same. You might have differing temps or sound from each card, and they all have a different style cooler. My suggestion? Pick the cheapest one or whichever one matches the rest of your rig the best color wise.
I would get the EVGA card with the ACX cooler. The EVGAs overclock like a dream, and they use quality parts. I haven't dealt with their customer service before but I hear that they are quite good.
In my experience, the MSI solutions are very strong coolers while maintaining good accoustics.
I personally have the 660ti PE, and it's stock clocked to a 670's stock clock, and effectively works as a 670, and has the OC headroom that a reference 670 would have.
I also have a good impression of Asus cards, as many of my friends use them.
I dont have an impression of gigabyte or EVGA. I personally don't like non-reference Gigabyte nor the EVGA coolers. Also, ignore factory OC and just care about the cooler, because the higher the factory OC the less OC headroom there is depending on the cooler, so care about the cooler way more than the clock.
Just compare the warranties, the coolers, reviews on temps, and looks.
I was in the same position as you a few months ago. This video helped me a lot, and I ended up going with the EVGA ACX GTX 760; I loved it! Never got too hot, and was pretty quiet. Unfortunately, after about a month, it developed really harsh coil whine and I ended up RMAing it.
I have the EVGA GTX 760 SC with ACX cooling and my brother's 650ti boost with a stock cooler is much quieter than it. It performs well, but I've RMA'd 1 card for coil whine (no bother because evga rmas are boss). I personally would go with the MSI card as the only good experiences I've had with RMA'ing components were with EVGA and MSI.
If you want pics or benchmarks don't hesitate to PM me.
RMA stands for Return Merchandise Authorization. In simpler terms, you send it back to either the seller or the manufacturer if it is damaged under warranty. Then they will send back either the same item repaired or a new version of the same item. Of course if the warranty on the item is voided or the item is obviously tampered with they will deny your RMA.
I have the Gigabyte Windforce 760 OC. If I'm not mistaking it runs the coolest (in cases with good airflow) and it's the highest clocked. I also found that it's very quiet for my ears (can't hear it at all in my Define R4). The downside is that it's probably the ugliest, even though it does have the advantage of blending into pretty much any color scheme.
