This makes me sad
MS had a chance at promoting two things heavily and making them shiny shiny to attract the sheeple
- dx12
- their marketplace
failed at both

It's only Gears of War exclusive on Windows Store. It's better if people don't buy it. We don't want to give Microsoft any ideas that their new PC platform was any good.
The game is shit and it isn't on steam, way to go Microfart.
I totally get the 'bigger picture' us needing it to fail..
BUT
its gears of war in remastered goodness and I wanted to play it on my super pc :(
damn you microsoft...
this is stupid on so many levels
MS is failing on purpose. They are tired of investors bugging them about PC gaming.
Even microsoft has started to concede on their arguments against PC gaming. That's where some of this unified platform stuff is coming from. I'm personally OK with the windows store and the unified platform stuff. The problem that I have is they're lacking the options that I demand in games.
If I can't force a game to go full screen, that's a deal breaker. If I can't have mumble overlays I'm kinda hacked off. If I can't control VSync (MS Said they're gonna fix this one) that's a deal breaker. And on a LOT of games, not being to update the code to suit my needs is a pretty big problem.
All that said most of those are problems with UWP, and they're problems that Microsoft has the ability to fix. Let me extract a UWP the same way that I can extract a app on OSX. If there's just another step like unzipping the file and rezipping it, that wont bother me. It'll take an extra second, but I'll deal with it. The store itself is not a problem because if you play BF4 you already use Origin. If you want to play the division or assassins creed or far cry, you use UPlay...adding another service in their is VERY mildly inconvenient from a practical sense, and as long as the platform is reliable (streaming cut scenes rather than including them in the UWP is not a good way to start, that shit needs to get fixed ASAP), I don't mind using the service.
There are some flaws, but most of them are small enough that'd I'd hope MS would fix them. This is the PC gaming community after all. We've gone so long without so many of these games that it's nothing for us to boycott the service out of the principle of the matter. We've definitely done more about less egregious slights.
This is an interesting view, I hadn't even considered that.
I'm a huge fan of the Gears series but I'm not buying it because I doubt that it supports 21:9, I refuse to use the windows store, and it's not remotely PC friendly in terms of graphics and options.
They should fix then release to steam, gog and all the other drm. Who trusts microsoft to manage anything
You can't even use the store or apps if you have UCA disabled, not to mention there is no easy way to backup apps or install them on a drive other than C:
This is way worse than GFWL.
Well said reikoshea, well said.
