Here's my situation, I currently have an older computer and have recently bought a new PSU and video card so I can play more modern games. My problem is is if wether my current CPU will hold up playing newer games until I have enough money to buy a new case and components.
My current CPU is a Intel Pentium 4 @ 3.06 GHz it is a dual core but I'm still just wondering as I do not have the most advanced knowledge of all things computer.
I'll be grateful for any help, thanks for reading.
That CPU might be ok for some games but you really need something better, it should do you untill you have something better, keep an eye out on the streets, you can often find old computers that people have thrown out and you can occaisionally find a half decent processor. anything from a core 2 duo upwards would be an upgrade for you. When you get a new processor I would suggest either an intel i5 - i7 or an amd FX 6300 or FX 8350.
imo, the pentium 4 is really a slow CPU nowadays, but if you have the money get the FX-6300 or if you are on a budget which i do not think you are looking at your graphics card you got, the Phenom II X4 955/965 is a solid CPU, but if you are not looking to upgrade your system in the next 1 or 2 years, get the 6300 because the phenom is almost 2 years old.
