Hi Guys.
I've built my first PC with the following components and would welcome any advice on where I could improve my gaming performance:
- AMD FX6300 Black Edition OC 4.1GHz
- Asrock 970 Extreme4 Motherboard
- Sapphire Vapor-X Radeon HD 7770 1GB GDDR5 Memory
- Corsair Vengeance Low Profile 16GB (2x8) DDR3 1600Mhz CL10 RAM
- Kingston HyperX 120Gb SSD
- Seagate 1TB 3.5inch Hard Drive
- Corsair 600W PSU (80+ Certified)
- Cooler Master Hyper 212
I also have a cheap case and blu-ray drive.
Thanks for your help!
*EDIT* I should note that the system was built in February so am looking for the best places to start to upgrade.
it would help to know your budget, but i would say get something better than the 7770, like a 7850, you can find one for about the same price as the vapor-x 7770
Do you mean the 1GB or 2GB variant? I'm from the UK and Amazon.co.uk have the 2GB 7850 at around £50 more than what I paid for my 7770.
That motherboard is overkill, get something simple. You won't ever need 16 gigs of ram for just gaming unless you plan on using a RAMdisk or something crazy, 8 should be more than enough. You will probably want a better graphics card, at least a 7850, you could probably squeeze a 7870 into that build with the money you saved from not buying overkill motherboard and ram.
I think I got the motherboard for a decent price back in April knowing there would be some room for upgrades in the future. The general concenus seems to be that upgrading the GPU should be my priority?
Basically for a good gaming rig, you need a good graphics card and a cpu that won't slow it down. You have alot more freedom with the rest.
Would you say the FX6300 is good enough/ will be capable of graphics comparable to the PS3/XboxOne? I've OC'd it to 4.1Ghz but am afraid to go any higher as I don't really know what I'm doing haha.
